From yesterday
till today
My life has always been connected to sport in a very special way.
Before I developed my enthusiasm for water sports I had a lot of
fun playing ball games. After several years of indoor-swimming I
realized that I wanted to do some outdoor aquatic sports. Among
several others I tried the treading-boat, rowing and fishing but
always knew that I still had not found just what I wanted. A windsurfing
magazine I saw during math in the hands of my classmate in 1987
was to change my life tremendously. |

| The pictures I saw in that magazine impressed me
that much that at the very same day I asked my mother to buy me
one of those fantastic new sporting tools. |

Fuerteventura 1993 |
It was a cold day in November and
the salesman warned me just after the purchase that the weather
was too cold to go out windsurfing. So I had to wait until next
spring before I could try my new board. I learned windsurfing on
a lake near Hanover and from the very beginning I used every minute
I had to experience my new passion. Only a few months later I had
my first regatta-experience and was happy about my first sponsoring
contract. Only my high-school diploma prevented me from dropping
everything and exclusively deal with windsurfing. |
| After my diploma nothing could stop
me any longer. The next year I flew to Hawaii, the place I always
had dreamed of, and therefore had the chance to exercise during
winter. After the first top ten results in European Funboard Cups
I decided to do this sport professionally from the next year on.
Since then I had been in the Caribbean, South Africa, Chile and
Australia for several times. The Hawaiian island Maui had become
my secret second domicile. |

|
| In 1993 I started to study sports at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität
zu Kiel, as I always had been curious about the theoretical parts
of sport. Actually everything I do, developed from sport and boredom
surely does not exist in my life. |

Maui 2000 |
During summer I go to university
and participate in numerous windsurfing events, work on several
projects, such as event presentation, journalistic activity or marketing
advice. I travel across Europe and during my free time I spend a
lot of time with my friends. In the winter months it draws me towards
the southern regions of our earth to get to know new countries and
cultures and just to go out windsurfing with friends on perfect
conditions. |
