In wenigen Jahren hat es Beatrice geschafft in die High Society
der Fotographie aufzusteigen. Hier ihr Werdegang aus ihrer eigenen
Sicht:
I grew up in a medium size German town called Hannover, where I
had a relative traditional German upbringing. Actually I have been
on the same school as Ingo. I always had a big interest in fine
art and painting. I guess this was my first visual education. As
a rebelling teenager I saw over the rim of the this small town and
my vision was triggert and needed to be satisfied.
After I had finished my general education in Germany, I took off
to study fine arts and grafics at the Art Center Pasadena in Los
Angels. Big city life and all these crazy caracters in town interested
me, but I had not jet a creative channel to output it. In my second
semester we had a mandatory "basics of fotography" class and there
my career took a direction. I managed to include fotography classes
throughout all my studies, and within few month I started to work
for Detour Mag, an LA Magazin all about the actors, writers and
LA szeene.
Since Ingo and the rest of the German windsurfers flew via LA to
Maui, it was given, that I would skip school once in a while to
join them. On Maui I took my first lifestyle and sport pictures.
Over the years it became a very balancing part of my working life
to join the gang on some beautiful beaches to take pictures and
enjoy life.
Shortly after I finished university, I literally jumped into the
German marked. I got an agent in Hamburg and my work moved straight
into advertising. I branched off into cosmetics and kids fotography.
I always kept a link to the windsurfing industry to challenge my
ideas and never be stuck in the adverting/city world.
Today I live between Hamburg and Capetown, shooting super interesting
campaigns for all different areas.
Looking back at all this, I was never a glamour fotografer in one
of these super hip studios. I always look for people with life and
power in their eyes. I think that is still the essence of my images
to show the actual beauty and fun in a moment rather than a composed
set up.
